Chapter 07: Visiting
Song Hanmei's face was dark enough to drip water. “At this point, how can you still be siding with Ying Sisi? Aren't you afraid she'll end up living better than you?”
Li Yuwei found herself at a loss for words.
She couldn't possibly reveal the truth about her rebirth.
Even if she did, her mother wouldn't believe her.
Determined that Ying Sisi should smoothly marry Qin Yanci, she gritted her teeth and said, “Mom, Qin Yanci isn't what you imagine. Don't go around matchmaking recklessly. You should apologize to Sister; after all, she's Dad's daughter.”
Song Hanmei was left speechless with rage.
Inside, Li Junlu remained silent for a moment, as if weighing his words. “Sisi, since you’ve come to this family and haven't called your aunt ‘Mom’ even once, yet she has not held it against you, it shows she's a kind and generous person.
The reason she has you do chores is that she wants you to be diligent, so your in-laws will like you. Also, she's worried you might feel she doesn't treat you like family—after all, which guest does chores? Isn't it usually the host who does?”
Ying Sisi almost laughed in disbelief.
So she was supposed to thank Song Hanmei for her “training” and for treating her like family?
She wasn't buying into Li Junlu's reasoning and replied directly, “I can't accept such ‘kindness’!”
Li Junlu sighed, then continued in agreement with her, “Alright, then I won't have you do any chores. You can just focus on being the bride.”
Ying Sisi still felt angry, but she wasn't truly planning to leave, especially since she had so many stamps to sell.
Who could she sell them to in the village?
Pouting, she reluctantly mumbled an “Okay.”
Li Junlu comforted her for a while before stepping out and closing the door behind him. He turned to Li Yuwei and locked eyes with her. “Yuwei, when you have free time in the future, help Sisi out with some of the household chores.”
“Dad, I didn't realize that my recent laziness would make Sister so angry. I will apologize to her,” Li Yuwei replied.
The more understanding Li Yuwei acted, the more it made Ying Sisi seem unreasonable.
Li Junlu lightly patted Li Yuwei’s shoulder. “You're so considerate.”
Children raised in the village truly didn't measure up.
They acted submissive and agreeable on the surface.
In reality, they had no sense of propriety.
He lamented, “Your mother said Qin Yanci is tall and handsome. When he was first introduced to you, you insisted…”
“Dad, Sister doesn’t have an education or a job. She needs this marriage even more than I do.”
“Good girl, you've sacrificed a lot for Sisi. I'm just worried she won’t appreciate it.”

Ying Sisi sneakily brought some snacks and headed to the Qin family's home in the East District.
She had only visited twice before.
Once was for a matchmaking meeting with Qin Yanci's mother, and the second time was for the engagement.
At this moment, the Qin family's door was tightly locked.
She knocked on the door, calling out, “Aci, Aci.”
After a second knock, she heard movement inside. “What are you doing here? Go back!”
Ying Sisi detected the anger hidden in his voice.
Was there no one home?
At that moment, a neighbor's head peeked out from next door.
Ying Sisi glanced over and continued knocking, speaking softly, “Aci, I came specifically to see you. Please open the door; it's very cold outside.”
