Chapter 21: Waiting for Fu Jinting

As the final exam of the second year of high school came to an end, many students were ecstatic.

After leaving the examination hall, Yuan Meng pulled Kong Yiyue into a lively discussion with several girls in the corridor, excitedly going over the answers. Kong Yiyue only offered her answers when asked and didn't actively participate beyond that.

After a while, Kong Yiyue found an opportunity to quietly slip away from the still-enthusiastic Yuan Meng and her friends, heading straight toward Fu Jinting's classroom.

With the winter vacation approaching, they wouldn't be able to see each other for several weeks. Although Kong Yiyue had decided to stay in Qinglin City for a part-time job during the vacation, she didn't plan to tell Fu Jinting about it. It seemed nice to let him worry about her a little.

Before Kong Yiyue reached his classroom, she saw Fu Jinting walking over with Xiang Yi and a few other boys. She smiled brightly, “Fu Jinting!”

Fu Jinting, who was talking to Xiang Yi, glanced at her indifferently upon hearing her call, then continued walking forward without acknowledging her.

The winter weather was cold, with a silvery-gray sky overhead. In the crowded corridor, Kong Yiyue felt the joy in her heart instantly diminish by more than half because of that single look.

Fu Jinting, are you really planning to ignore me like this?

“Fu Jinting!” Kong Yiyue hurried forward and blocked his path. “Can't I be wrong?”

Ignoring the looks of amusement from Xiang Yi and the others behind her, Kong Yiyue grabbed the sleeve of his coat. “I want to talk to you. Can I?”

Fu Jinting remained cold. “No need.” He tried to brush past her.

“Fu Jinting, I just need a minute, can't you give me a minute? Even if you hate me that much, you wouldn't mind giving me one more minute, right! Fu Jinting, stop and listen to me!” Kong Yiyue desperately tried to find a chance to talk.

“Kong Yiyue, don't waste your effort. I won't believe you anymore. Your image in my heart is lower than dust.” Fu Jinting's analogy was vivid. Kong Yiyue's lips, numb with cold, moved slightly, but she couldn't find the words to retort.

Lower than dust, huh? Kong Yiyue silently watched Fu Jinting leave, wondering, Why is he still so angry after so many days?

Since Fu Jinting wasn't willing to meet her alone, Kong Yiyue naturally wouldn't give up. She had noticed Fu Jinting's route home before. He would turn right at an intersection near the school gate; it was a place he passed every day.

Kong Yiyue returned to the dormitory to put her books away and then hurried out, staking out the intersection.

Even if Fu Jinting really didn't like her, she would find a way to make sure he couldn't escape her. Besides, judging by Fu Jinting's words and actions, she thought he was concerned about her. Otherwise, why would he make such a big deal out of it with a stranger?

Kong Yiyue waited idly for several hours until night fell and the streetlights lit up one by one. She hadn't seen Fu Jinting.

The soft light from the streetlights was tinged with yellow. She took out her phone, repeatedly turning on the screen. It was already past seven. Kong Yiyue took a breath, the cold air biting. She tightened her coat, her feet already numb.

Kong Yiyue endured the cold and waited for another ten minutes, finally and wisely making a call to Fu Qingrui. When the call connected, she felt endless sorrow in her heart. This whole strategy of playing the victim was too miserable!

Fu Qingrui answered after the phone had rung for a long time. “Kong Yiyue, what do you want from me!”

Kong Yiyue asked haltingly, “Is... is Fu Jinting home yet?”

“No, he has plans with Xiang Yi and them today; he won't be back until late!”

“Oh, okay, I understand.” Kong Yiyue hung up after hearing that.

Fu Qingrui had wanted to ask if he had missed some exciting event, but before he could, he heard the “beep, beep, beep” sound from the other end of the phone.

Fu Qingrui looked suspiciously at his phone. (#‵′) Damn it! Kong Yiyue actually dared to hang up so quickly! Was he being ignored? Or was it blatant?!

Kong Yiyue didn't wait for Fu Jinting, but she unexpectedly waited for Lin Anyi.

Lin Anyi was wearing a light green coat. In that moment, Kong Yiyue subconsciously shouted with joy, “Fu Jinting!”

The white shoes came to an immediate halt.

Kong Yiyue followed the white shoes upwards, blue jeans, a light green coat, and a face she knew so well that she had once shared a bed with him.

Kong Yiyue's smile froze, and then her eyes flashed with caution. “What are you doing here?”

Kong Yiyue didn't want to look at his face. As she looked away, her eyes fell on his coat, a hooded light green coat with brown fur swaying on the hood's edge.

Kong Yiyue suddenly remembered that Fu Jinting used to have a similar coat, but she hadn't seen him wear it since.

The phrase “things change” suddenly floated into her mind. Kong Yiyue lowered her head slightly and smiled contemptuously. Everything has already changed!

Lin Anyi's body was in the shadows beyond the lamplight. His white shoes were covered in dust, and he hadn't moved. He stood a dozen steps away from Kong Yiyue, saying without emotion, “Kong Yiyue, why do you bother?”

He knew that she had gone to Fu Jinting after the exam.

He also knew that Fu Jinting had spoken coldly to her.

Later, he saw her rush out of the school gate. He had followed her all the way, as if compelled by something.

She stood here silently, and he stood silently in the hidden distance, wanting to know why she was here. He had been standing there for hours.

Lin Anyi's patience had long been exhausted. He had a sudden thought, a guess that Kong Yiyue was here for Fu Jinting, but he immediately dismissed it.

Standing and waiting for someone without any hope, who would do something so stupid now? And Kong Yiyue wasn't stupid; in fact, she was terrifyingly clever, which was why she pushed people away!

But when he heard her mention Fu Jinting on the phone in the howling wind, he couldn't help but feel disheartened. Sure enough, it was for Fu Jinting!

He looked at her. Her long hair was tied up, her ears were red from the cold, and her delicate nose was also a rosy color. She kept pulling her scarf up to cover her slender chin. Her light yellow coat was thin, and she wasn't wearing gloves.

She had stood in the cold winter wind waiting for Fu Jinting for hours. Lin Anyi didn't know how to describe his feelings. The negative feelings he had had for her because of her inexplicable animosity and neglect seemed to disappear in the cold wind.

He had to admit that he felt a little sorry for Kong Yiyue!

“Lin Anyi,” Kong Yiyue put her hands in her pockets, the warmth inside making her feel a little more comfortable. She called out to him, saying coldly, “Stay away from me!”

It was that same phrase again, as ruthless as when she had told him to “get as far away as possible” when he had been disrespectful to her in the classroom.

“Do you still hate me that much?” Lin Anyi had only taken two steps closer when Kong Yiyue instinctively took several steps back.

Lin Anyi stopped, his face pale. “Kong Yiyue, give me a reason! Why are you so against me? I don't think I've done anything wrong!”

Kong Yiyue smiled. “Yes, you haven't done anything to hurt me, but even so, you're annoying.”

Lin Anyi's face turned from pale to flushed. “Are you still upset about what happened in the classroom that day? Kong Yiyue, I'm sorry! I don't know why I...”

“You don't need to apologize to me.” Kong Yiyue interrupted him. “We're not compatible; we're better off as strangers. Lin Anyi, I don't want to have anything to do with you, so please respect me and stay away from me.”

Was Kong Yiyue lowering her stance, begging him to stay away from her?

Lin Anyi was speechless. To be inexplicably hated by a girl, was it joy or sorrow? He gave a bitter laugh, saying unwillingly, “Kong Yiyue, you'll regret it!”

“Yeah, I've always regretted it.” She smoothly picked up his words.

I regret meeting you, regret agreeing to marry you, and regret living with you for five years.

Kong Yiyue's sad smile melted in the wind, infinitely blurred and melancholic.

Lin Anyi finally left angrily. Kong Yiyue waited for dozens of minutes, but seeing no hope of Fu Jinting appearing, she had no choice but to give up in disappointment. If she couldn't see Fu Jinting, then she would have to wait until school started next year.

Kong Yiyue's slender figure stretched infinitely long in the lamplight. The cold air was biting, and she inexplicably felt lost again. Was Fu Jinting deliberately avoiding her?

Transmigration in 1977 - Chapter 01

Chapter 01: Time Travel Needs Ritual They say that if you set the air conditioner to 16 degrees Celsius, light a candle, put an alarm clock in front of the candle, then sleep under a warm air conditioner blanket, and chant "Heaven and Earth are boundless, the cosmos is turned upside down," you can time travel?   Chen Fan came out of the bathroom after a drunken shower, remembering what his colleague, who was known for his mysterious ways and constantly mentioning the I Ching and esoteric arts (and nicknamed "Daoist"), had said during a drinking session.   Thinking about how he had been in an orphanage since he was 10 years old, and how he had only managed to get through college thanks to part-time jobs and his parents' inheritance, and how he had been working for years but still just a struggling wage earner renting a place in a suburban village, without any family support, it seemed like time traveling wouldn't be too bad. It wouldn't be worse than his...

Flash Marriage to a Crazy Rich Husband: I Shocked the World! - Chapter 96

Chapter 96: Willing   Ying Sisi was stunned.   What?   She wasn't listening at all.  What should I do?   If I get it wrong.   He'll be angry, right?   She hooked her finger at him. When he got closer, she did what he did to her.  She kissed his lips.   Qin Yanci clenched the book in his hand, then threw it on the ground.   He took the lead.   After a long time, he let go of her and said playfully.  “Sisi, you weren't listening at all.”   Sisi smiled embarrassedly. “I never thought I would ever get so much money.  I lost my mind for a moment.  Don't be angry, okay?”   Qin Yanci's eyes flickered. “Who's angry?”   Sisi thought, You're not admitting it.   Okay, I'll give you an out. “I was mistaken.  Shall we go out for a walk?  It's too easy to lose control when we're in the same room.”   “Hmm.”   Sisi hid the money separately, locked the door, and went for a walk with Qin Y...

Transmigration in 1977 - Chapter 24

Translator's Notes: I will be updating this to 2 chapters/week. It's for those few readers who still keep reading this. Enjoy reading!!!   2/2 Chapter 24: A Long Day     In any case, improving physical fitness is a good thing.   If only I could increase my strength someday. With only 5 points of strength, I'm practically "too weak to truss a chicken." In this production team where women are as strong as men and men are as strong as donkeys, it makes it hard for a grown man to hold his head high.   Chen Fan sat happily on the chair, watching Jiang Lili busy herself, when he suddenly thought of a question. "Hey, Xiao Jiang, isn't this place called Lujiawan? How come I haven't heard of anyone with the surname Lu?"   Generally speaking, places named after surnames usually have a large clan with that surname, but today he had listened for half a day and heard people with the surnames Yang, Liu, and Huang. There was also a barefoot doctor with the surn...
