Chapter 41: Triumphant

Li Yuwei couldn't argue back, so she muttered coldly, "Don't get too cocky."

Domestic violence was a matter of once or countless times. Qin Yanci had a history of violence, and she didn't believe Sisi was an exception.

Today's joy would turn into tomorrow's despair.

“You're the one who's disappointed. You see everyone as being happy,” Sisi turned back to her room.

She looked at the new, bright glass, and her lips couldn't help but curve upward in a sweet smile.

“Who's disappointed?  Just wait and see!  With my abilities and charm, I'll marry better than you and live a better life.”  Li Yuwei was full of confidence and pride about her future.

Sisi chuckled.

She had abilities and charm, but she thought marrying well was the key to living a good life.

It was like the saying in the village:  “You're using a cleaver to kill a chicken.”

She was a high school student!  Was all that schooling in vain?

She finished the bun in her hand, then took out the clothes Qin Yanci gave her and tried them on one by one.

They all fit perfectly.

Especially the red one. It made her skin look white and pink.

It was beautiful.

But red was too festive.  It looked like a bridal gown. Would people laugh at her for wanting to get married?

A white cotton coat would be more low-key.  She would wear white.

She liked both pairs of trousers.

It was just that the black cloth shoes were too mismatched with the clothes.

Qin Yanci's family would be coming to greet them on New Year's Day, and if she looked too shabby, people would definitely gossip.

After carefully considering her options, Sisi tucked a red envelope into her pocket and went out to buy shoes.

The shoes in the department store were very expensive. Even a pair of ordinary cloth shoes cost three yuan.

The cheapest leather shoes were seven yuan and eight cents. She couldn't afford that.

She remembered the leftover cotton and fabric from when she made her cotton coat.  She should make a pair of shoes.

She would make them a bit smaller, so they'd look good with her wide-leg pants.  She just didn't want them to look too rustic.

Sisi walked around and bought a pair of plastic-soled shoes to take home.

She had just left the department store when she was stopped by a middle-aged man.

“What are you doing?”  Sisi stepped back cautiously.

The man also took a step back. “Girl, don't be scared. I…”  He looked around and lowered his voice.  “Do you want rabbit fur?  It can be made into shoes, gloves, scarves.  It's adult white rabbit fur, and I'll sell you three pieces for two yuan.”

Sisi was tempted.

Three pieces for two yuan, according to him, was a good deal.

It could be made into shoes, which were not only durable but also warmer.

If there was enough material leftover, she could also make wrist warmers to wear around her cuffs to protect her from the wind.

It was a great deal.

“Let me see it first,” she said.

“The goods are in the alley. My wife's watching them. Come with me.”

“You should bring it to me,” Sisi was very cautious. Who knew what kind of people were waiting in that alley?

What if they were bad guys?

After entering the city, she had heard many stories about women being kidnapped.

The man hesitated for a moment. “Okay, but don't tell anyone I'm a peddler.”

Sisi promised, “Don't worry.”

Soon, the man came over with a green cloth bag.

Sisi examined it carefully. The fur was soft and smooth, and the quality was good.

Two yuan, a bargain.

She paid him and put the money in his pocket.

The man looked down at it, smiled at Sisi, and walked away.

Sisi found a shoe shop to get the shoes made.  She chose the type of sole and upper that was more suitable for rabbit fur.

It cost four yuan.

Because she was in a hurry, the shopkeeper charged an extra fifty cents.

Sisi considered it and agreed, paying half the deposit.

She agreed to pay the rest when she picked up the shoes, and she left the shoe shop and headed home.

She had just reached her doorstep when Li Junlu came out, his face dark with displeasure. “Didn't you say your leg hurt? Where did you go?”

Sisi calmly replied, “I bought soles to make shoes.”

Transmigrated to a Prehistoric Tribe to Farm and Build Infrastructure - Chapter 01

Chapter 01: Male, Will You Marry Me?   This wasn't a dilapidated shack?!   Changxia stared at the 50-60 square-foot earth-pit tent. Old animal hides were draped over branches, bound together with vines – simple and rustic. Changxia’s lips twitched uncontrollably; she could only feel speechless. The tribesmen who had brought her here had already left.   She put down her backpack, placing her belongings to the side, not hurrying to begin work.   There was no mistake; this would be her home for the rest of her life.   After silently appreciating it for a moment, Changxia turned to look at Chen Rong behind her. His face was pale, his gait weak and unsteady. One glance revealed his poor health.   “You stay outside, I’ll go in and clean up alone,” Changxia said.   “It’s fine, let me come in with you. This animal den hasn’t been lived in for a long time. Besides insects and ants, we need to check if the roof is rotting,” Chen Rong smiled slightly, e...

Flash Marriage to a Crazy Rich Husband: I Shocked the World! - Chapter 38

Chapter 38: Worth a Thousand Gold       The door was unlocked.   Sisi had gotten up and was washing her face, applying face oil, when she heard someone calling “Wife” outside.   She opened the door to find Qin Yanci standing there.   Sisi's face lit up, and she greeted him sweetly, “A-Ci, what brings you here? Come in.”   Qin Yanci whispered, “It's about the stamps.”   “You traded them for money?” Sisi waited expectantly for his answer.   Qin Yanci said, “I wouldn't trade them without your consent.”   Sisi's heart skipped a beat. Being respected felt so good. She was eager to know the stamps' value. “How much are they worth?”   “Ten yuan.”   Sisi gasped in astonishment. Ten yuan? Over a hundred stamps, worth a thousand gold?   She was rich!   With this money, she could indulge in her buying and selling ventures.   She excitedly grabbed his hand. “Where did you trade them?”   Qin Yanci lowere...

Transmigration in 1977 - Chapter 13

Chapter 13: You Have a New Order Of course, Chen Fan wouldn't argue with Keeper Huang. He thanked him profusely. He had brought a big bag of sweet potatoes, free of charge, how could he not express his gratitude? After seeing Keeper Huang off, he really didn't dare close the door again, so he just left the door slightly ajar, at least that would provide some cover. He went back into the room. He didn't even touch the tea he poured for Captain Yang. He picked it up and felt it. The temperature was just right, so he took a big gulp. It tasted pretty good, what kind of tea is this? He stood up and lifted the lid of the teapot. He saw two large leaves floating inside, about the size of a baby's palm. It turned out to be “ one-horse tea ”. “One-horse tea” refers to a type of tea where a single leaf can be used to make a pot of tea. Some places also call it “ three-horse tea ”. These leaves are not actually tea leaves, but they are harvested from fresh “ HuBei Hawthorn ” lea...
