Chapter 68: Thoughtful
Qin Yanci said, “Look some more.”
“Don't you want to ask a teacher for guidance? You should have heard the story about the carpenter who worked alone, right?”
Qin Yanci smiled. “I've heard it. I'll ask a teacher for guidance in the future. Don't worry, I'll definitely pass the exam.” He was confident in himself and in that guy.
The next day, Sisi opened her eyes, and she was the only one in the room.
There was an extra blanket on the bed, right next to the edge. It was obviously Qin Yanci's.
He didn't sleep in the same bed as her. What a gentleman.
Sisi got up and folded the blanket. She saw new toiletries on the table. She took them and went to wash her face.
When she came back, Qin Yanci was in the room. She saw him taking out a bottle of face cream. “For you.”
Sisi sighed. He's so thoughtful.
She rubbed it on her face and used the rest to rub on her hands.
Qin Yanci's gaze fell on her hands. He couldn't understand why, as a city girl, she had such rough hands.
Sisi noticed his gaze. Her hand movements stopped. Did he think her hands were too rough to be a woman's hands? She quietly put her hands behind her back.
Qin Yanci lowered his eyes. “There's food on the table.”
Sisi saw that the lunch box she had brought yesterday was open, with two meat buns and a large portion of soy milk inside. “Let's eat together.”
“I've eaten. They're all yours.”
Sisi ate it all and rubbed her stomach because she was full. “I'm full.”
Qin Yanci was also ready to go. He told the driver to take them to the compound.
Sisi corrected him. “Wangjia Compound on Yongfu Road.” She said to Qin Yanci, “Just take the things to my dad's workplace compound. It's closer.”
Qin Yanci pondered.
When they got there,
Qin Yanci confirmed his guess.
Old Qin used his work unit as their new home.
So, she was going to live here and be his wife?
He said with a deep meaning, “Sisi, do you think you understand me?”
Sisi smiled frankly. “I don't. We'll get to know each other slowly. Are we going to my house now?”
Qin Yanci sighed. It'll be too late when you get to know me. “Okay.”
Qin Yanci went to buy a gift at a store on the street. He only picked expensive ones.
Sisi pressed down on his hand. “My dad is simple and doesn't like luxury. It doesn't matter if it's ordinary. Just get two boxes of step-by-step (bù bù gāo) cakes.”
“Wouldn't that be too shabby?” Qin Yanci frowned slightly. Is it okay to give two boxes of cakes during the New Year?
Sisi said, “It's not shabby. He loves them. Let's go.”
They turned the corner and entered the alley.
They soon arrived at the Li family.
Sisi went to the entrance of the main hall and said hello. “Dad, you're back.” She pushed the door open.
Li Junlu and Song Hanmei were sitting in the living room. One was reading a newspaper and the other was knitting.
The latter's eyebrows flew up, and she said in a long, sarcastic tone. “You still know how to come back? Who were you hanging out with? What kind of girl stays out all night? You have no ladylike manners at all.”
“A-Ci, come in.”
Song Hanmei felt like she had been caught gossiping. "…"
Qin Yanci walked into the room and scanned it. “Uncle, Auntie, I was delayed by something during the New Year. I'm just coming now. I hope you don't mind.”
Li Junlu was drinking tea from his teacup. When he heard this, he choked several times. Was he dissatisfied because the red envelope was small? It's only been a few days. Why is he calling him uncle again? “No, no. What were you doing these past few days?”
“Studying.”
Song Hanmei said, “No matter how important studying is, you can't be disrespectful.”
“It was my fault for not thinking about it.” Qin Yanci's attitude was so good that Song Hanmei's jaw dropped. He wasn't like this last time he came.
Why did he become so polite in just a few days?
