Flash Marriage to a Crazy Rich Husband: I Shocked the World! - Chapter 52

Chapter 52: Promise

Sisi walked back home, dejected.

A group of women were gathered in front of their neighbor's house, gossiping:

“Look, Sisi is back. If she knew that Yuwei was being proposed to by someone who's worse than that Qin boy in every way, she'd probably be so happy.”

“Of course.  Why is Song Hanmei always so mean to her? Now that Yuwei is worse off than her, can't she be happy about it?”

“Sisi is so lucky.  Before her husband came back, she didn't even have a decent set of clothes. Now that her husband is back, she's dressed better than a girl from the city.”

"…"

Sisi walked over and greeted her neighbors. “Aunt, Auntie, hello.  Is anyone home at my house?”

“Yes, they're inside, but the door is closed.”

Before Sisi could ask, her neighbor said, “Your sister was proposed to.  The boy is in his twenties.  He's not very handsome, and he isn't dressed very well.  He came with his parents, carrying two chickens to express their intentions. Your aunt fainted on the spot.”

Sisi wasn't surprised. After all, the man had promised to come ask for her hand yesterday.

The two chickens were unexpected.

It was so hard to live in the countryside, and when a man went to ask for a woman's hand in marriage, they brought two boxes of things.

Even if things were tough in the city, you couldn't just bring two chickens.

That was too stingy.

With that attitude,  not only would her parents not agree, but Li Yuwei probably wouldn't want to either?

Li Junlu's mind was buzzing.

“Dad, Feng Erge and I really love each other. Just agree, okay?” Li Yuwei was desperate.

Li Junlu waved his hand, shaking his head.

His Yuwei has a high school diploma and a stable job.  If she really married that good-for-nothing.

Their family wouldn't be able to hold their heads up on this street.

He said, “I can't agree to this.  Make them go back to where they came from.”

Feng Shuangxi's mother scowled.  “Your daughter is already my son's woman.  She might even be carrying my Feng family's seed.  If she doesn't marry him, who will she marry?”

Li Junlu's temples bulged.  He looked at Li Yuwei.

Li Yuwei lowered her head, as if she had done something wrong.

Actually, she hadn't gone all the way with Feng Shuangxi.

But to successfully marry him,

She was willing to pretend.

Actually, she didn't want to do this, but time was running out.

According to the trajectory of her past life, in three months, Feng Shuangxi would earn a thousand yuan.

He would be out of poverty from then on.

The opportunity to turn things around was right in front of her.  She couldn't miss it.

“It must be your son who was being a scoundrel!” Li Junlu said.

“Your daughter said she liked my son.  Now we're encouraging free love. If you insist on breaking them up, we can appeal to higher authorities.”  Mother Feng threatened.

Li Junlu couldn't stand being threatened.  He pointed at the door and roared, “Get out now, or I'll get rough.”

Feng Shuangxi's knees went weak. “Dad, just agree to let Yuwei and me be together.  I promise I'll make Yuwei's life good.  I'll be filial to you and take care of you when you're old.”

Li Junlu leaned back in shock. “You, you scoundrel! Who are you calling Dad?  I haven't recognized you as my son-in-law.  Yuwei, if you still consider me your Dad, get these three people out of here.”  He was so angry, he wanted to scream.

“If you don't agree, I'll leave with them.”  Li Yuwei was determined.

Li Junlu was both angry and enraged. “You dare try it.  If you step out this door, never come back!”

Li Yuwei went back to her room and started to pack.

Feng Shuangxi followed her, helping her and promising, “Yuwei, you've taken a chance with me today.  I promise I won't let you down.”

Transmigration in 1977 - Chapter 32

Chapter 32: Time to Earn Work Points     Chen Fan slept under the covers for who knows how long. When he woke up, the effects of the alcohol had worn off.   He was tempted to stay huddled in the covers, but he worried about not being able to sleep at night. Also, he didn't know what time it was or if it was time to make dinner, so he got out of bed and put on his clothes.   Walking out of the room, he looked up at the sky. The sky was still gloomy, and a flock of birds flew by. They were too far away for him to see what kind of birds they were, but they weren't pigeons.   Actually, even if you put the birds in front of him, he might not recognize them. He only knew sparrows, pigeons, parrots, magpies, cuckoos, owls, and egrets. He wasn't very familiar with other birds.   He stretched and walked towards Jiang Lili's room, wanting to ask her if she knew the time.   There wasn't even a clock here, which was really inconvenient. He didn't know how t...

Transmigration in 1977 - Chapter 02

Chapter 02: Tell the Truth   Seeing that Chen Fan refused to cooperate, Captain Yang became angry. He slammed his hand on the table and shouted to the crowd outside, "Lao San, go get Constable Zhu here."   Chen Fan shrank his neck, feeling guilty and helpless. What a mess!   Captain Yang then remained silent, staring at him with a stern look, hoping to break his psychological defenses and make him confess his identity.   Twenty minutes later, a bicycle bell rang. The villagers who had been crowding around the doorway gossiping quickly cleared a path. A man wearing a cap and a navy blue police uniform walked in.   Before he even entered the room, his voice reached them, "Captain Yang, what's going on?"   Captain Yang stood up, took out a cigarette and offered him one, then used a match to light it for him. He also lit one for himself, then motioned for the man to sit at the table before pointing at Chen Fan and saying, "Yesterday, while we were going to the ...

Transmigration in 1977 - Chapter 19

Chapter 19: New Skill     Before Jiang Lili could speak, he dashed out.   This time, he didn't take the main road, but took the small path. Like a diligent bee, he brought back ten more large soft-shelled turtles.   Although they weren't as big as the first one he brought back, they were all as big as a washbasin. Decades later, these would sell for 1000 yuan per jin, but now he could pick them up at will.   By this time, Jiang Lili had already boiled the water. She also took out the large iron pot that was used for cooking pig feed which was hidden on the wooden rack in the pigsty. She carefully cleaned it with straw and placed it on the simple stove next to the pigsty.   Next, it was Chen Fan's turn to perform.   First, he used a cotton stalk to keep the soft-shelled turtle's mouth busy, pulled out its head, and before it knew, he had quickly cut it in half. The turtle's blood gushed out.   He didn't waste the turtle's blood, collecti...
