Rebirth: To Make You Mine - Chapter 03

Chapter 03: I Heard You Like Me

After Yuan Meng left, the classroom gradually quieted down.

Kong Yiyue looked up from her workbook and suddenly realized that the front half of the classroom was empty. She turned her gaze to the window, and the dim sky was empty except for the white clouds drifting by.

The sun had already set, and the lights in the school were gradually coming on.

Kong Yiyue rested her left elbow on the table, her palm supporting her slender chin, her eyes looking into the distance but unfocused. Her clean right finger was skillfully twirling a black ballpoint pen.

Last life, last life...

Kong Yiyue fell into thought again. She met Lin Anyi in her sophomore year.

She calculated the time, it should be next week.

Lin Anyi, a transfer student, had a gentle personality, good grades, and his looks were considered outstanding in the class. There were many girls who liked him, but because his seat was next to hers, she became familiar with him because of their proximity.

In her junior year, because of her father's death, her grades dropped repeatedly. It seemed only natural that she would perform poorly on the college entrance exam.

So she had to attend a third-rate university, diligently completing four years of undergraduate studies in education.  After graduating, she struggled to find a job at a private school, becoming an insignificant teacher there.

A year after graduating from university, Lin Anyi, with whom she had been out of touch for a long time, suddenly added her on WeChat. He would occasionally greet her politely, and she didn't think much of it.

Until one day, he told her: he had liked her for a long time and wanted to date her with the intention of marriage.

Kong Yiyue didn't agree immediately. She just used the excuse of needing to think about it for a few days.  Later, she was pressured by her mother to go on blind dates, and she broke down, so she agreed to Lin Anyi's pursuit.

Their relationship was calm and uneventful.  There wasn't any passionate love, nor any sweetness. Occasionally they would eat together, go shopping, or watch a movie.

Kong Yiyue's mother was happy that Kong Yiyue had a boyfriend.  Later, when Lin Anyi visited her home for the first time, he mentioned marriage.  Kong Yiyue's mother immediately agreed.

At the time, Kong Yiyue felt that whether or not she got married didn't seem to matter.

If it was someone she had to marry in this life, then if it was Lin Anyi, there didn't seem to be a big problem either.

He was good to her, and they hadn't quarreled during their relationship. So, might as well get married.

After getting married, Kong Yiyue realized how ignorant she was.

Indeed, marriage was not a game. Otherwise, why would she have swallowed sleeping pills and committed suicide in the fifth year of her marriage?

Suicide...

The moment Kong Yiyue thought of this, it was as if the sense of hopelessness and detachment from that time was deeply imprinted in her heart. She was filled with pain, a kind of pain that could make one's bones turn to ash, tightly entwined with her, making her feel as if she was about to suffocate, just like before she...died.

“Bang!” Kong Yiyue forcefully slammed her ballpoint pen on the desk.  The sudden sound startled the two or three remaining students in the back, who looked at her in surprise.

Kong Yiyue, with the force of her action, had already stood up abruptly. Receiving their glances, she apologized slightly and rushed out of the classroom to the nearby restroom.

She needed to splash some cold water on her face to calm herself down. She had already lived such a miserable life in her previous life, how could she go through it again in this life! Absolutely not!

Having calmed her emotions, Kong Yiyue felt much more comfortable when she came out of the restroom.

The moment the cold water touched her cheeks, she woke up. This was no longer her previous life, and she no longer had to walk the path of her past life.

This life, even if she couldn't change her parents' fate, she would never let herself fall into the same painful predicament as her previous life again.

Kong Yiyue lowered her head slightly, focusing on her thoughts, but she didn't expect that a few steps out of the restroom, she would bump into a figure who was just coming down from the corner staircase.

The crisp scent of a man mixed with the smell of sweat. Kong Yiyue's forehead collided with his hard chest, making her groan softly. She quickly took two steps back, but she didn't know that there were puddles of water by the restroom door. She slipped on them, lost her balance, and fell heavily to the ground.

The boy who had just been in close contact with her simply stood there, watching.

The next second, a cool feeling came from her skin touching the floor. Kong Yiyue sighed silently:  Probably my pants are wet now.

At this moment, the only word she could think of was—embarrassing.

Little did she know that in the eyes of someone who was looking down at her, her embarrassing appearance was met with a look of unhidden schadenfreude.

Fu Jinting was wearing only a light blue shirt, most of which was soaked. He had just finished playing basketball and had wiped his forehead with a tissue, but because of his haste in going upstairs, a few drops of bright sweat had seeped out again.

He lowered his gaze to the girl sitting on the floor. Her long hair was a little messy, and her palm seemed to have rubbed against something. She opened her hand to look at her slightly red palm, then nonchalantly closed her hands again. She tucked the loose strands of hair behind her ear before raising her head and looking up at him slowly.

Fu Jinting seemed to be waiting for her to look up and notice him.

Kong Yiyue couldn't be considered a great beauty. She only had skin that was slightly fairer and smoother than most girls. Her eyes were beautiful peach blossom eyes, and the starlight in her eyes was shining brightly.

Fu Jinting's gaze slid quickly past her rosy and pretty lips, and then he couldn't help but snort coldly, saying, “Kong Yiyue?”

The tone was cold, even with a touch of disgust.  Kong Yiyue didn't care about that.  She was surprised instead:  Fu Jinting actually knew her?

A smile involuntarily spread across her lips. Who said this wasn't a good start?

?

Seeing her smile, Fu Jinting was inexplicably taken aback.  They say that girls with peach blossom eyes have a drunken, pitiable look when they smile, and it seemed to be true.

Thinking about this, Fu Jinting's expression became even darker.

Kong Yiyue, she was truly annoying.

Kong Yiyue didn't look at him. Not knowing that he had just flashed a look of displeasure, she stood up briskly and just as she was about to ask how he knew her, she heard him say in a lukewarm tone, “So fast, already thinking about throwing yourself at me?” His tone was affirmative, not a question.

Kong Yiyue looked up at him, with a slightly unfathomable smile.

The annoyance in Fu Jinting's heart grew even more when he saw her alluring smile.

This kind of girl wants to marry into the Fu family?  Fu Jinting scoffed in his heart—really clueless.

Kong Yiyue didn't want to answer his question. She smiled calmly and explained another point to him, “It was an accident.”

Fu Jinting put both hands in his pockets, leaning slightly to the side, putting some distance between them.

Kong Yiyue knew that this was an instinctive action of his body to reject her. She didn't mind and, as if in line with his wishes, she took a step back.

Fu Jinting was quite satisfied, but behind his satisfaction, he was somewhat surprised. Her reaction just now, where did it show that she liked him?

Was the rumor wrong?

Hmph, this was interesting.

Fu Jinting lifted his chin slightly, arrogantly asking word for word, “I heard you like me?”

Kong Yiyue didn't avoid his gaze and replied loudly, “No.”  Two firm words, without any shyness or nervousness.

Fu Jinting didn't believe her, “Oh? Is that so? Then how come I heard you're going to pursue me?”

His question made Kong Yiyue involuntarily bite her lower lip, quickly withdrawing her gaze from him.

Seeing this, Fu Jinting felt a disdain in his heart, clearly guilty!

But to his surprise, after a few seconds of silence, Kong Yiyue smiled leisurely and said, “Fu Jinting, I think you have misunderstood. Sometimes, pursuing doesn't mean liking. Besides, the pursuit I'm talking about isn't now. My plan is to start pursuing you in my junior year, take two years, get together after graduation, marry two years after graduation, and have children two years after that. The time frame is just right...”

Fu Jinting heard this, and the displeasure in his eyes became even more obvious.  The time for pursuing, the time for being together, the time for marriage, even the time for having children, all planned out?

He was speechless for a moment!

Kong Yiyue's tone was cheerful and bright. Anyone else hearing this might think the plan was very achievable.

Unfortunately, the key figure in this plan was him, Fu Jinting, and his response was a completely emotionless, “Kong Yiyue, you are shameless!”

Kong Yiyue still smiled charmingly, pretending not to hear him.

The Little Childhood Sweetheart's Counterattack - Chapter 1

Chapter 01: The Tyrant's Gaze   Their teacher was a middle-aged man with a large belly. His last name was Wu, he wasn't tall and didn't talk much. Since it was the first PE class of the semester, after briefly introducing himself and summarizing the course content for all the new students, he taught them a few basic warm-up exercises, then had them run a few laps around the field. He was merciful and dismissed the class, allowing everyone to do whatever they wanted.   The boys in the class cheered when they heard they could have free time. They called out to each other and ran towards the basketball court.   As Xiang Yang and a few girls left the field, she heard one of them, a girl with long hair, say, “Oh no! It's actually him who’s our PE teacher!”   Since it was only a few days since the start of school, Xiang Yang only remembered a handful of classmates' names. Although on the first day of school, during the first class, the head teacher, based on academic perf...

The Little Childhood Sweetheart's Counterattack - Chapter 5

Cha pter 05: Homework Help   Every moment spent with Fu Guanxian was excruciating for Xiang Yang.   Finally, the driver dropped Fu Guanxian off at the entrance of the Fu family's house.   The car stopped, and as Fu Guanxian got out with his schoolbag, Xiang Yang couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.   Fu Guanxian, who was about to walk away, stopped abruptly. He turned back and opened the car door again.   Xiang Yang suddenly took a deep breath, her eyes alert as she looked at him, her face pale.   Fu Guanxian leaned down and said, “Come to my house after you finish your homework tonight.”   “Come...you...you got punished by the teacher again?” Xiang Yang nervously clutched the strap of her schoolbag. She had a lot of homework tonight. She had planned to finish the homework assigned by the teacher, practice piano, read an extracurricular book, and then do some math problems later.   As usual, Fu Guanxian didn't want her to have a peaceful ev...

The Little Childhood Sweetheart's Counterattack - Chapter 57

Chapter 57: Rumors and Retaliation   Xiang Yang doesn't sleep well at night.  The next day, she can't settle down in the practice room, so she calls Xiang Yi.  She's not sure how to naturally bring up the matter of with company. She just casually asks, “Dad, will the employee accident at Uncle Fu's company be difficult to handle?”   Xiang Yi replies, “Guanxian is taking care of it now. I believe he can handle it properly soon.”   “Oh.”   “Dad, will it have a bad impact on the company?”   “Fu's has been standing firm for so many years. They've seen all kinds of storms. This is nothing.”   Xiang Yang thinks about it. She's not very familiar with this. She's actually a bit naive.  She asks Xiang Yi, “Dad, how's the company doing lately?”   Xiang Yi hears this and seems to remember something, but he replies as usual, “The same as always.”   “Dad, what's the percentage of my company shares? I wasn't paying attention last time you told me...
