Chapter 65: Covering Up
Sisi was bored. She sat on the edge of the bed and picked up one of his old books.
She had stayed out too late yesterday, and she was busy all morning. Now that she was relaxed, her eyelids were drooping. She flipped a page and fell asleep on her side. When she woke up, she was covered with a blanket. She sat up, covered her mouth and yawned softly. “A-Ci, how long have I been asleep?”
Qin Yanci glanced at his watch and turned to face her. “About two hours.”
“So you haven't moved for two hours?”
“Hmm.”
Sisi admired his patience. “Want to go out for a walk? Get some exercise.”
“It's snowing.”
Sisi got out of bed and pulled open the curtains. The snowflakes were falling like goose feathers, and there was already a thick layer of snow on the ground. The streets were deserted. She panicked. With this much snow, how could she get home? She said, “Do you think the bus will be shut down?”
“It probably will.”
Sisi said, “Do you think I'll freeze to death if I stay outside for half an hour?” It was difficult to walk in the snow and wind. It normally took twenty minutes to walk to the nearest family housing complex. Now, it would take at least half an hour.
“It's better to freeze to death. Don't run around. If you freeze your hands and feet, no one will take care of you.”
Sisi: "…" What's wrong with this guy? Can he speak properly? She clenched her fists and deliberately used a proud tone to hide her shyness. “If that's the case, I'll stay here with you tonight. After all, we got our marriage certificate. We can sleep in the same bed.”
Qin Yanci's eyes moved. He turned around and sat back down properly. “You don't mind staying, then stay.”
Sisi nodded obediently. Seeing that his cup was empty, she went to refill it.
She lifted the kettle and it was empty.
“A-Ci, where's the hot water? I'll get some for you.”
“There's a water room at the end of the corridor on the left downstairs.”
Sisi went downstairs to get water. She passed by the reception desk. Whistling came from behind her. She turned her head instinctively and met the receptionist's wink and smile. A chill ran down her spine. She glared at him fiercely.
When she got to the water room and was filling the cup,
Someone patted her on the shoulder. “Girl, getting water? What's your relationship with the guy in Room 203?”
Sisi was startled. “What are you doing?”
“I'm asking you, what's your relationship with the guy in Room 203?” The receptionist turned his head, showing his sharp jawline, showcasing his charm.
“He's my partner. Please stay away from me.” Sisi reprimanded him sternly and left with the water.
The receptionist sneered. “Bah! You're staying in a guesthouse with a man. Who are you trying to fool by acting pure and virtuous?”
Sisi went back to the room and refilled Qin Yanci's cup.
Qin Yanci's eyes were full of warmth. “You went all the way downstairs to get water for me?”
“What else would I do?”
Qin Yanci smiled slightly. She's so considerate. Unfortunately, he's leaving tomorrow. The next time they meet, that kid might stop him from meeting her. “I was supposed to come to your house after the New Year. I've been delayed for so many days. How about I come tomorrow?”
Sisi was puzzled. Why is he being so polite? “Okay. If the bus is running tomorrow, we'll go back.”
“Hmm.”
Sisi sat back on the bed and continued reading his book. Remembering what happened downstairs, she was so angry that she couldn't read anymore.
Should she tell him?
He'll be angry, and he won't be able to read either.
Maybe I shouldn't tell him.
The temperature dropped sharply at night. The two of them went out to eat in the snow. In just a few minutes, their heads, shoulders, and everything were covered in snow.
“If we could face the same snow together, our lives would be considered a shared journey to old age. A-Ci, does that line apply to us?”
Qin Yanci's heart stirred slightly. “I didn't know you could write poetry.”
Sisi said, “It's not mine. Li Yuwei said it. I just remembered it.”
Qin Yanci's eyes were filled with a smile. “It's good that you can remember it.”
