Chapter 66: Interrogation
“Hmm?!” Sisi playfully made a sound. “It's so cold.” She took the initiative to reach out and hold his arm, getting closer and getting warmer.
Qin Yanci's entire body was stiff. He didn't relax until they walked into the restaurant and she let go of his arm.
They ate wontons and came back.
Sisi was freezing. She rubbed her hands and roasted them near the central heating.
“There's a bathhouse in the backyard of the guesthouse. You can register your room number at the reception desk and get into the pool.”
“Really? I want to go!” Sisi naturally took his soap and shampoo and went out.
She passed the reception desk. It was still the same guy. Sisi endured her dislike and went forward. “Hello, I'm here to register for a bath.”
“Wait.” The receptionist took out a notebook.
He had Sisi fill in her room number and name.
Sisi did so. He then said, “Wash up, so you're ready to be eaten? Tsk.”
She didn't understand. She thought he was talking about a pig. She put down her pen and left.

Qin Yanci in the room, as soon as he imagined her rolling around with the soap he used, a wave of heat rushed over him. He couldn't concentrate on reading at all, so he had to close the book. He sat stiffly for nearly an hour before she came back. As soon as she entered the room, she had a beaming smile. Her cheeks, because she had just taken a bath, were like they were rubbed with a light pink rouge. She was exceptionally charming and beautiful.
“A-Ci, do you want to wash up?”
Qin Yanci was flustered. He pushed his glasses up with his bony fingers, trying to act calm. “No rush. You rest first.”
“I'm not tired either.” Sisi stood at the window and looked out.
The white snow illuminated the night like daylight. The snow was knee-deep on the snowy streets.

Would she be able to get her bicycle as a dowry?
At this moment, there was a hasty knock on the door outside.
“Open the door!”
Sisi was startled and looked at Qin Yanci.
Qin Yanci calmly pulled open the latch. Two young men in navy blue uniforms walked into the room and said directly, “What's your relationship?”
They were from the patrol team.
Sisi was confused. “Hello, officer. We're husband and wife. What's wrong?”
“Husband and wife? What's your proof?”
“Proof? You mean our marriage certificate?” Sisi immediately said, “A-Ci, where's the marriage certificate?”
Qin Yanci had never seen it. “Who carries their marriage certificate around with them?” He took out his letter of introduction, which proved his identity.
The officer looked at it. “You're a local. Why aren't you staying at home?”
Qin Yanci asked back, “Is there a rule that locals can't stay at guesthouses?”
The officer choked. He then interrogated Sisi. “You're a couple. Why did you come here after he'd been staying here for a few days?”
“I was busy during the New Year. I didn't have time for my partner. I was free today, and I thought I'd bring him something nice to eat. What are you asking for?” Sisi thought, I haven't done anything wrong. Why are you interrogating me like a criminal? “If you can't give me a reason, I'm going to report you to the neighborhood committee for intimidation.”

One of them coughed. “Someone reported you for indecent behavior.”
Sisi was furious. Her fair face flushed red. “My partner and I are staying in a hotel. How did that become indecent behavior? The person who reported us is making up charges without any substantive evidence. They're spreading rumors and seriously harming my reputation. I demand that they apologize to me in person and bow 90 degrees. Otherwise, I will definitely make a big deal out of it. In the end, none of us will be happy.”
The two looked at each other.
“We were just doing a routine check. We're sorry for disturbing you.”
The two were about to leave.
Sisi stepped forward and stopped them. “If it's a routine check, why did you look at my partner's ID and then question me? You obviously assumed I was a loose woman and tried to interrogate me to make me slip up. I feel like my dignity has been insulted. Don't say that the innocent have nothing to fear. This matter can't be swept under the rug without an explanation.”
