Chapter 13: A Marriage That Ended
Midterm exams started on Wednesday – a crucial week.
Kong Yiyue entered the classroom just as the night study bell rang, finding her classmates diligently studying. The professional habit from her past life resurfaced, and she approvingly thought: They're all so dedicated!
As soon as that thought passed through her mind, Kong Yiyue realized it was inappropriate. Well, she was a high school student now, not the twenty-something-year-old she used to be.
Kong Yiyue composed herself and was about to walk to her seat when someone called out to her, “Kong Yiyue, wait, I have a question for you.”
It was a boy who sat a few rows ahead of her. She had discussed problems with him a couple of times before. Seeing him call her, she stopped, looked at the problem, and generally explained her thoughts and solution steps. The boy's grades were good, and his comprehension was also good. Kong Yiyue only explained once, and the boy nodded, “I understand!”
“Okay, good.” Kong Yiyue saw that the problem was solved and was about to continue walking back to her seat.
The boy looked up at her and said, “You should do your best in this mid-term exam!”
Kong Yiyue said, “Thank you, you too.”
“I think you can get first place this time!”
Kong Yiyue smiled and simply “hehe”d, not responding. Back at her seat, she keenly caught Lin Anyi's gaze on her again.
Kong Yiyue pretended not to notice and opened her extracurricular book.
After evening self-study, Kong Yiyue and Yuan Meng were about to return to the dorm when Lin Anyi walked out of the classroom with them. Whether intentionally or not, Lin Anyi said very casually, “Why do you have to lower yourself to chase after Fu Jinting?”
Hearing this, Kong Yiyue subconsciously turned to look at him. Lin Anyi looked as usual, carrying his backpack and continuing to walk out, passing her by.

Because of this remark, Kong Yiyue had some trouble sleeping that night.
In her previous life, during high school, their relationship was quite pleasant. Even after high school graduation, she still had a good impression of him.

Later, Lin Anyi found a financial management job through relatives and friends. Besides meeting at home at night, they almost never had a serious conversation.
He was unwilling to maintain their marriage, and neither was she.
So, the marriage ended five years later—with his infidelity and her suicide.
Kong Yiyue didn't know when he started having an affair. She chose death not because of his betrayal, but because she felt there was no hope in the world. Her family was gone, and there was no one she loved, no dreams, no hope, she chose to give herself a release, a new beginning.
Rebirth was truly unexpected, but Kong Yiyue thought that maybe she had left too many regrets in her last life, so fate favored her.
In the dark and quiet night, Kong Yiyue sighed silently. No matter what, she had to stick to her initial intention after being reborn—to live a wonderful and happy life!
Early in the morning, Fu Jinting had just entered the school when he saw Kong Yiyue waiting for him in the same place. He walked straight ahead without looking at her.
Kong Yiyue was thinking about what excuse she should use to talk to Fu Jinting when she noticed that Fu Jinting had passed her and walked ahead.
His tall and slender figure looked handsome and upright in the gentle morning light. Kong Yiyue called out to him, “Fu Jinting, good morning!” As soon as she spoke, she had already run to his side.
Fu Jinting didn't look at her, pretending she didn't exist.
Kong Yiyue wasn't defeated by his cold attitude at all. She walked alongside him, smiling, “Fu Jinting, when can I finally have a meal with you?” Seeing Fu Jinting's threatening gaze, she immediately changed her words, “Oh, no, I was asking when you're free? I'll treat you to a meal to thank you!”
“I'm not free.” Fu Jinting stopped, “Kong Yiyue, don't always appear in front of me!”
Kong Yiyue replied, “But how can that be! If I don't appear in front of you, and you go abroad for a few years after graduation, won't you forget me completely?”
Kong Yiyue spoke directly. Seeing Fu Jinting's gloomy expression, she realized that she had said the wrong thing.
Sure enough, Fu Jinting asked coldly, “How do you know I'll go abroad?”
Kong Yiyue searched her mind for the perfect explanation, stammering, “I, I guessed!”
Fu Jinting's sharp gaze intensified, making Kong Yiyue a little scared. She hesitated for a while and bravely said, “Aren't the children of wealthy families usually sent abroad? I just followed logical reasoning.”
Fu Jinting smiled coldly, “Then why did you say that to Zhong Ziyang? To get my attention? Or was it premeditated?”
He was referring to the sentence, “Actually, that multiple-choice question wasn't that difficult to choose.”
Kong Yiyue admitted frankly, “Both.”
Fu Jinting knew it in his heart, but seeing her admit it so frankly felt different.
This feeling of deception shouldn't exist, but Fu Jinting felt an irritation of being deeply deceived by Kong Yiyue!
She deceived him?!
Thinking about this, Fu Jinting's expression became even colder.
Kong Yiyue explained, “Actually, I was just taking a gamble. There are already many girls who like you. If I hadn't gotten first place this time, you probably wouldn't have noticed me. Fu Jinting snorted coldly, “Kong Yiyue, don't get any ideas!”
Kong Yiyue wanted to argue, “When did I get any ideas?!” Before she could speak, Fu Jinting had already strode away from her.
