Chapter 123: Sweet Nothings
Qin Yanci felt guilty. How could I push my wife? “You pushed me into the wall too.”
“You said so.” Ying Sisi didn't hold back. She used all her strength. The next second, his back hit the wall with a soft thud. She said, “Even.”
Qin Yanci said, “It didn't hurt at all.”
Ying Sisi blinked, pretending to be worried. “What should we do then? I can't cut you with a knife. I can't do it. I would never want you to get hurt. Besides, I don't mind being pushed. Don't worry about it.”
Qin Yanci felt even more guilty. He solemnly promised, “Next time, I'll definitely control my emotions.”
“Okay. I believe you. I'll get you some peaches.” Ying Sisi proudly brought out a peach the size of a bowl from under the kitchen cabinet. She turned on the faucet and quickly rinsed it. She handed it to him. “Try it. It's delicious.”
“Did you eat any? How many did you pick? I don't want to eat it. Save it for you.”
“I ate some, right? Otherwise, how would I know it's delicious. You don't need to save them for me. There are plenty here.” Ying Sisi opened the cabinet again.
Qin Yanci's eyes widened. He roughly estimated that there were about ten.
Big ones in one row, small ones in another row. He suddenly smiled. “You're so organized. The peaches even have to line up.”
Ying Sisi said with a smile, “I picked them out carefully. The big ones are for us. The small ones are for your parents. I'll send them over later. Do you want to come with me?”
When she mentioned father Qin and mother Qin.
Qin Yanci became silent. He didn't agree, but he didn't disagree either.
Ying Sisi didn't force him to accompany her. She changed the subject. “Are the peaches good?”
Qin Yanci looked at her. “They're good. Sweet and soft.” Just like you.
Ying Sisi said, “I'll save all of them for you.”
A warm current flowed through Qin Yanci's heart. So many peaches, half for those biased parents, half for him. She only excluded herself. How could there be such a good girl in the world? “You eat them.”
I'm not craving these.
Ying Sisi said, “The old people in my village say that eating peaches can make you live longer and be wiser. You use a lot of energy studying. You need it. Eat some.” I want to eat them. Can't I pick them myself?
Qin Yanci's eyes flickered. He finally nodded. “Okay.”
Ying Sisi grinned at him. You little rascal, a few sweet nothings and you're almost crying? You like to hear them, I'll tell you these things every now and then. I guarantee I'll make you feel so touched you'll cry.
She waited for the water in the pot to boil before adding the noodles.
After dinner, Qin Yanci took the initiative to clean up.
She picked out a few pieces of pickled radish from the jar and put them in a glass jar. She sealed the rest of the jar, put it in a bag with the peaches, and sent them to her in-laws.
At that moment, father Qin and mother Qin were sitting in the living room watching the news.
They were surprised to see Sisi.
“Ying Sisi, why do you have time to come over now?” Father Qin was worried. Did she have a fight with my son?
Ying Sisi put down the bags in her hands. “I brought you some food.”
“We have everything at home. You don't have to bring anything.” Mother Qin didn't even look at her. In her eyes, my son and my daughter-in-law need our help to make ends meet. Whatever they can give us, how good could it be?
It must be worse than what I brought.
Ying Sisi said, “You have peaches too? And pickled vegetables from Su Mansion Restaurant?”
Mother Qin's gaze fell on her again.
Father Qin had already gotten up and walked over. “Where did you get such big peaches? They smell so good. You even have pickled vegetables from Su Mansion Restaurant. Do you know the chef there?”
Ying Sisi lightly shook her head. “I don't know him. A-Ci got them. He got the pickled vegetables too.”
