Chapter 21: Heartbreak
“Ah?” Ying Sisi raised her head as if waking from a dream. “The ones with the blooming peonies are one and a half cents a pair.”
“I'll take two pairs.”
“Alright.” Ying Sisi took the items and received the money. Then, she met Qin Yanci's gaze and quickly looked away. “You should go quickly, it's not good if anyone familiar sees you.”
Her voice was so soft it was almost inaudible, cautious, like a child who had done something wrong.
Qin Yanci felt a pang of sympathy. “Where are you going if you haven't sold everything?”
Her window decorations were all unique and beautiful.
Even he wanted to buy a couple.
Her hands were so skillful.
Ying Sisi was stunned. She blurted out, “Are you going to sell with me?”
“Why not?”
Ying Sisi was speechless. "."
Qin Yanci stood beside her. When someone approached, he helped her with the window decorations.
Ying Sisi calmed herself and pulled his scarf up to cover her nose. “This way, no one will recognize you.”
“You recognized me, didn't you?”
Ying Sisi was speechless. They didn't have time to chat because they were busy with business. After they sold out, she finally had a chance to ask him, “What are you doing here?”
“Looking for review materials. I also bought you two books.”
“Bought me books?” Ying Sisi was surprised. It was the first time someone had bought her books. “I don't know many characters, I can't understand them.”
“You can ask me. Going home? To the new house.”
Ying Sisi hesitated before nodding.
After leaving the market, Qin Yanci asked, puzzled, “Didn't you just receive a red envelope? Why are you setting up a stall here?” She was really capable, she actually found the black market even though she was a stranger here.
He, a local, had only found it through connections.
Ying Sisi remained silent for a long time before saying softly, “The red envelope belongs to both of us, I can't just spend it. I found the black market by asking around. Now that you know I'm a businesswoman, what do you think?”
The Qin family was prominent, they wouldn't accept a daughter-in-law who was a profiteer.
She had already prepared for the worst. No matter what, she wouldn't blame anyone.
“I'll set up a stall with you.” Qin Yanci stated his position clearly.
Ying Sisi was both surprised and delighted.
She was surprised that he could accept her setting up a stall, and she was delighted that she had met a man who respected her. She smiled, her red lips and white teeth shining, her old, thick, and earthy cotton coat hiding her beauty. “Okay.”
Qin Yanci was mesmerized.
When she looked at him, he quickly regained his composure and lowered his eyelashes.
He couldn't let his wife see him staring at her with lustful eyes.
Back at the residential complex, Ying Sisi took out the money she had earned and counted it.
After deducting the cost, she had made a net profit of one yuan and eight cents.
She recorded the account in her notebook.
Qin Yanci saw from the records that she had already started setting up a stall yesterday.
She had set up a stall after getting the license, and she had also cooked for his entire family.
She hadn't had a moment to spare.
He felt uncomfortable.
“Is this stall absolutely necessary?”
Ying Sisi looked up and replied frankly, “Yes, you can't go back on your word.”
Qin Yanci: “I won't go back on my word, but you can't set up a stall every day.” What if she gets too tired?
Ying Sisi agreed.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. After a long silence, Qin Yanci took the initiative to move closer and hold her hand, gently rubbing it.
It was cold and rough.
Her hands shouldn't be like this.
After the wedding banquet, when they lived together, he would definitely take good care of her hands.
Ying Sisi's heart pounded. She didn't understand why he kept touching her hand.
Would he be unhappy if she pulled it away?
Sigh.
He liked it, so let him be.
It wasn't like he was going to take a piece of her flesh.
