Chapter 116: No Further Inquiry
Li Yuwei's blood rushed to her head. She was stunned. “You…you're lying! How could you have met Feng Shuangxi? Unless you went looking for him behind your husband's back.”
As she refuted, she didn't forget to stir up trouble between Ying Sisi and Qin Yanci.
“Are you admitting it then? I do have something to explain. I didn't go looking for him behind A-Ci's back. I met Feng Shuangxi on the road. I was following behind him and I heard him bragging to someone else. Yuwei, girls should stay pure. It'll be a bad reputation if it gets around.” Sisi leisurely watched Li Yuwei get flustered.
Li Yuwei was both ashamed and angry. She couldn't believe it.
Feng Shuangxi wouldn't be so uncouth to brag about a girl's privacy.
In my past life, he protected Ying Sisi so well.
Even though Ying Sisi couldn't have children, he told everyone that it was his fault.
How could someone who loves his wife like that…?! “I'll go ask him.”
“Are you not embarrassed enough?!” Li Junlu exploded. He pushed her into the room and locked the door. “Go and reflect on yourself.”
Li Yuwei was anxious to verify. She pounded on the door. “Dad, Dad, let me out!”
Li Junlu pretended not to hear.
Ying Sisi said, “Dad, no one is cooking. Why don't we go out to eat?”
Li Junlu was in no mood. He made excuses. “I'm not feeling well today. It's not convenient to entertain you two. You two can do what you want.”
Ying Sisi pretended to be disappointed. “Okay. Then we won't bother you.”
She and Qin Yanci said goodbye and left.
After they left, Qin Yanci said, “Didn't you go to the suburbs yesterday? Why did you meet that Feng Shuangxi?”
Ying Sisi said, “I went to the suburbs in the evening, I was wandering around during the day. Let's go shopping. I want to buy some yarn and knit you a scarf.”
“Okay.” When Qin Yanci heard that she was going to knit him a scarf.
He didn't inquire further about her meeting Feng Shuangxi.
They went to the department store and then to the cinema to watch a movie.
They went home leisurely.
Qin Yanci sat in the living room for a while and then went to the guest room to review. Sisi went to the kitchen to clean up the river mussels. She stir-fried them with wild garlic and chili peppers. The aroma was intoxicating. Then she boiled a pot of fish soup.
After serving it, she called out to the guest room, “A-Ci, dinner is ready.”
“Coming.”
They sat down at the table.
There was a knock on the door.
“Sisi, it's me and your mother.”
Ying Sisi turned to Qin Yanci. “It's Dad and Mom. I'm going to open the door.”
Qin Yanci didn't say anything.
Ying Sisi took it as his permission and let them in.
“Oh, you're eating. I brought you some fruit and walnuts. Yanci, you're using your brain to study. Get some nourishment.” Father Qin said with a smile.
“Have you eaten?”
“Not yet.” Mother Qin said.
“Then come join us.” Ying Sisi invited them into the house, took the things from their hands, arranged for them to sit down, and then immediately went into the kitchen to serve the food.
Mother Qin said, “Is there enough food?”
“Enough. I made a lot. You eat first. I'll stir-fry another dish. It'll be quick.” Sisi efficiently picked out vegetables and stir-fried them.
Mother Qin was clearly more satisfied than last time. Now she's acting like a real wife. She picked up a piece of river mussel and took a bite. “What is this? It's so smooth and tender.”
“River mussels.”
Mother Qin said curiously, “River mussels? I've never seen them in the market.”
Qin Yanci said, “You've never seen them, but that doesn't mean Sisi hasn't.”
Mother Qin was choked. She was afraid of angering her son again if she said too much. She found another topic. “I heard Teacher Jiang praise you. He said you're very gifted. If you study hard, you have a chance of getting into Peking University. Your dad and I were so excited. If you really get into Peking University, you'll be the hero of our family.”
Qin Yanci said, “So if I don't get in, I'll become a traitor.”
Mother Qin: "..."
