Transmigration in 1977 - Chapter 32

Chapter 32: Time to Earn Work Points

Chen Fan slept under the covers for who knows how long. When he woke up, the effects of the alcohol had worn off.

He was tempted to stay huddled in the covers, but he worried about not being able to sleep at night. Also, he didn't know what time it was or if it was time to make dinner, so he got out of bed and put on his clothes.

Walking out of the room, he looked up at the sky. The sky was still gloomy, and a flock of birds flew by. They were too far away for him to see what kind of birds they were, but they weren't pigeons.

Actually, even if you put the birds in front of him, he might not recognize them. He only knew sparrows, pigeons, parrots, magpies, cuckoos, owls, and egrets. He wasn't very familiar with other birds.

He stretched and walked towards Jiang Lili's room, wanting to ask her if she knew the time.

There wasn't even a clock here, which was really inconvenient. He didn't know how they usually told time.

But before he could reach the door, the courtyard door was knocked, and then the two doors were pushed open. "Chen Fan, Chen Fan?"

Chen Fan turned his head and saw that it was Yang Ju again.

At this time, Jiang Lili also came out, looked at Chen Fan, then at Yang Ju, and stood aside without saying a word.

Chen Fan looked at Yang Ju. Before he could speak, he heard her say, "My dad wants you to go to a meeting."

"A meeting?"

Chen Fan was stunned. "What kind of meeting?"

Could it be a study session?

Jiang Lili had just said that there were many meetings in the production team in winter. He didn't expect one to come so soon?

Yang Ju walked in, saying, "My dad didn't say. He just told you to go quickly."

Chen Fan looked at Jiang Lili. "Then, Xiao Jiang, do you want to go?"

Yang Ju was immediately stumped. "My dad didn't say."

Alright then.

Chen Fan turned around and said to Jiang Lili, "For safety's sake, why don't you come with me?"

Jiang Lili thought for a moment. "Okay, then I'll go with you first. If it's not my business, I'll come back."

Going and coming back was no big deal, but if it really involved her and she didn't go, that would be a big problem.

She turned around, closed her room door, and followed Chen Fan outside.

Before long, they arrived at Captain Yang's house. Accountant Liu, Keeper Huang, and Liu Ju Jiang were also sitting in the room.

Seeing Chen Fan come in, Captain Yang nodded to him. "Sit."

Then he looked at Jiang Lili and smiled. "Xiao Jiang doesn't need to participate in this."

"Oh."

Jiang Lili's eyes clearly dimmed. She forced a smile. "Then I'll go back first."

Seeing Captain Yang nod, she glanced at Chen Fan and saw that Chen Fan was smiling at her. Her mood suddenly improved a lot, and she turned and walked out.

Chen Fan pulled out a chair and sat down, looking at Captain Yang. "Captain, what's the matter?"

Could it be related to the soft-shelled turtle again?

Otherwise, as a newcomer who had only been here for two days, what important matters could he be involved in?

Captain Yang took a puff of smoke and said, "Here's the situation. Today, didn't we kill the soft-shelled turtle and the whole team ate soft-shelled turtle meat? The brigade leader Zhang from the brigade headquarters asked me about the situation. He praised you for knowing how to cook soft-shelled turtle and selflessly sharing the recipe, and gave you a commendation.

However, our Lujiawan has 12 production teams. Now, only our Team 6 has eaten soft-shelled turtle meat. The other 11 brother production teams haven't eaten it yet. So, Brigade Leader Zhang said that we are a proletarian team, and we should share good things with everyone and not be selfish.

The meaning is to teach the method of cooking soft-shelled turtle to people from other teams. The only ones who know how to cook this soft-shelled turtle are you and Master Liu. This responsibility will fall on your shoulders."

So that's what it was about?

Chen Fan looked at Liu Ju Jiang and saw that his expression hadn't changed at all. He must have already known. So, he turned his face and nodded to Captain Yang. "Okay, I have no problem with that."

After a pause, he asked, "When will the people who want to learn how to cook soft-shelled turtle come over?"

He had experience with this kind of thing. When it came to training, they would definitely call the people from below to come up, teach them, and then they would go back and teach others. This was more efficient.

But Captain Yang shook his head, smoking a cigarette and saying, "It's not them coming over. This matter requires you to work hard and run to each team."

Chen Fan, o_o?

He had to go there himself? They weren't coming over?

Captain Yang smiled and said, "I discussed this with Brigade Leader Zhang. At first, I also suggested letting other teams send one or two people to learn. You could teach them all at once, and then they could go back and teach. That would save time.

But Brigade Leader Zhang's meaning was that when learning a skill, it's best to learn directly from the master. If they send people to learn from you, they can only learn 80% at most. By the time they go back and pass it on again, it'll probably only be half.

But if you go directly to teach, it's different. Everyone in the team can come and learn and do it together, so everyone will have 70% or 80%. Then, if they exchange notes with each other, even if they don't reach your level, they can still get 80% or 90%, right?

I thought about it and felt that what the brigade leader said was right. And if you two split it up, one of you is responsible for 5 teams, and the other is responsible for 6 teams. Then, you go to two places a day, which is only a matter of two or three days. It won't delay you much time. What do you think?"

Liu Ju Jiang chuckled. "The brigade leader has spoken. Of course, I have to go."

Chen Fan nodded along. "I am also very willing to do my part."

Then, a look of difficulty appeared on his face. "But..."

As soon as Captain Yang saw this, he thought, "He's going to make a request."

Immediately, he took a puff of smoke and said with a smile, "Are you worried about working for nothing? Don't worry about that. Mr. Li also said, 'The principle of distribution in the People's Commune is still distribution according to work.' Since you put in the work, you have to get work points. This time, you not only have to work, but most of the time you'll be on the road. So, we won't do 'fixed points and dead records.' We'll follow the principle of 'piecework recording.' One team counts as 10 points. If you run to 5 teams, you get 50 work points. If you run to 6 teams, you get 60 work points."

As soon as he heard this, Liu Ju Jiang, who had been half-dead just now, instantly perked up. "Captain, don't worry, I guarantee I'll complete the task."

Chen Fan opened his mouth, his mind still thinking, "So, there are several ways to record work points in the production team?"

By the time he heard Liu Ju Jiang's voice, he finally reacted and quickly said, "Thank you, Captain."

He wouldn't be noble and refuse work points that were handed to him, especially with Liu Ju Jiang next to him. If he refused, what would that do to him? So, without even a word of politeness, he directly agreed.

Now, only the last question remained.

He looked at the others with a worried expression and asked in a low voice, "Captain, I don't know how far those places are? If they're too far, I'm afraid I won't be able to walk!"

Yesterday, when he was standing on the embankment, he had looked into the distance. It seemed that the nearest place was at least half an hour away?

Walking to 5 or 6 teams... When would he get there?

Transmigration in 1977 - Chapter 17

Chapter 17: Catching a Big One     After sitting in the room and being exposed to the smoke for a while, Chen Fan listened to Captain Yang and the others discuss next year's work arrangements. He could understand the literal meaning, but he didn't understand why they were making these arrangements.   These three were all veterans, they could communicate clearly with just a few words. They naturally wouldn't explain things.   After listening to their confusing conversation, he couldn't sit still anymore.   He stood up and said, "Captain, Accountant, Keeper, Auntie Yang, you guys continue chatting, I'm going now."   Captain Yang looked up at him, "Stay a little longer. You don't have anything to do when you go back. Just stay here and warm yourself by the fire."   Speaking of the fire, he seemed to remember something, "Is it too cold in your room? I'll get you a brazier."   Chen Fan quickly stopped him, "No, no, it's ...

Chapter 64: Roses and Regrets   During the Spring Festival, Xiang Yang receives an invitation.   Fu Guanxian delivers it to her.  “Lian Rui and Hou Xingrou's wedding.”   Xiang Yang is astonished. She asks in disbelief, “Fu Guanxian, are you kidding me? When did Xingrou get together with Lian Rui?”   “Four months ago, I think.” Fu Guanxian thinks for a moment and replies.   Fu Guanxian sits down next to her. Xiang Yang carefully looks at the invitation. It really is Lian Rui and Hou Xingrou. She complains, “Xingrou is so disloyal!  She didn't even give me a heads up about something this big.”   After graduation, she's been in the entertainment industry. Hou Xingrou works elsewhere.  They rarely meet, but they do contact each other occasionally.   She knows that Hou Xingrou was also pretty close to Lian Rui in high school.  She didn't expect them to get together, let alone get married so quickly.   Xiang Yang thinks about the wor...

Flash Marriage to a Crazy Rich Husband: I Shocked the World! - Chapter 92

Chapter 92: Reselling     “Okay, okay, I'll sell it for five cents.” The vendor was afraid that Sisi would change her mind. He immediately started weighing it.   It weighed twenty-three pounds.   Ying Sisi paid him one yuan and two cents.   She took some home and rode her bike to the restaurant with the rest.   Old Zhao was excited to see her. “Kid, I was worried about how to get in touch with you. I want to order another 300 pounds of your fish.” Today, as soon as the fish was served, there were several tables that requested a refill and ordered another serving to take home.   In less than a day, more than half of the dozens of fish were consumed.   “I'm out of fish. But I have wild shepherd's purse. Do you want some?” Sisi untied the opening of the bag. “It's all fresh.”   Old Zhao only stared at her. “You're out of fish? How can the river be out of fish? Are you trying to raise the price?”   “Really, there's none left.”...
