Chapter 58: Understanding
The manager's expression didn't change. His voice was harsh. “Girl, what are you talking about?”
Sisi smiled faintly. “You don't have to take it seriously.”
The manager was nervous. Those words… did she have evidence? “What do you want, girl?”
Sisi got straight to the point. “Of course, I want to do business with you. For example, I could supply seafood, dried goods, etc. The quality will definitely be good.” She could also choose goods from the black market and sell them to the restaurant. All she had to do was take on a little risk, and she could ensure that she had enough food and clothing.
“You're not here to entrap me, are you?” The manager couldn't see her as a business person.
“Hmm?” Sisi didn't understand. The courtesan who taught her said that when you don't understand but don't want to be found out, don't directly answer them. Just circle around the topic and say just enough. People will be afraid of you if they can't figure you out. She pondered for a moment and said, “Just tell me yes or no.”
The manager didn't know how much Sisi knew. He was afraid of offending her and suffering the consequences. He dared not be negligent. “At least let me see the goods?”
Sisi felt like she had successfully gotten a foot in the door. “What about the price?”
The manager hesitated before telling her the purchase price, adding, “But it also depends on the quality. If it's good, we'll pay a higher price.”
“We'll meet here next week.”
“That won't work. Bring the goods. Go around the restaurant to the back door. Someone will be waiting for you. Don't let anyone see you.”
“Okay.” Sisi was very happy.
She was thinking about buying goods, so she went straight to the black market.
When she got there, she found it was deserted.
She realized that the market had been shut down yesterday.
It was the New Year, and everyone couldn't possibly stay at home. There must be another place where things were happening.
She would go around and ask people for a couple of days to see if she could find it.
If all else fails, she'll ask Qin Yanci for help.
He left her behind. Thinking about it now, what was the big deal?
Was she justified in getting angry?
Besides, he's studying so hard. She should be considerate and understanding.
She would go see him.
Sisi was enlightened. She went to a pastry shop by the road and bought some chestnut cakes with low sugar. She carried them to the family housing complex.
There were several expensive things in the living room.
A sewing machine, a television, and a radio.
“A-Ci~”
No one's home?
Sisi pushed open the study door and then the bedroom door.
It was still in the same state as when she was here last time.
Could it be that mother Qin came here to deliver these things?
Did Qin Yanci never come back?
Sisi's mind flashed. She locked the door and went directly to the Qin family.
Only Lu Yuechun and the fourth child were there.
“Oh, Sisi. Good timing. Could you watch the kids while I go to the bathroom?”
“Okay.”
Lu Yuechun quickly returned.
Sisi said, “You're taking care of the fourth child by yourself.”
“Yeah, they all went to see relatives. I can't go out because I'm sitting in confinement.”
Sisi asked, “Have you eaten?”
“Not yet. There's chicken soup warming on the stove in the kitchen. Could you help me bring it here?”
“Okay.” Sisi brought the soup back.
Lu Yuechun drank it and complained to Sisi.
For example, the children were too noisy. She couldn't eat well or sleep well.
For example, her husband was out wandering all day. When he got tired, he'd just lie in bed and never helped take care of the kids.
For example, when her in-laws came, they just woke the kids up, played with them for a while, and then threw them back to her.
“When you have a baby later, you have to talk to Yanci and make sure he helps you take care of the baby. Don't be like me. I'm so tired, I'm like an old nanny.”
Sisi couldn't relate. In Lu Yuechun's eyes, everyone could only give to her. If anyone wasn't attentive, it was their fault. She smiled. “It'll be a while before I have a baby.”
“Well, where's Yanci? I haven't seen him for days. What is he doing?”
